Dr. Nielson leads the DOSECC team with over four decades of geoscience training and experience.  With both a Ph.D in Geology from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the University of Utah, Dr. Nielson applies scientific rigor to practical business and academic challenges in his work at DOSECC.

Dr. Nielson led the non-profit DOSECC organization as President since 1996 and has been president of DOSECC Exploration Services, LLC, since it was started in 2007.  His extensive research background has been a distinguishing factor in the direction the company has taken as a full-service drilling solutions firm.  The unique reputation DOSECC has established in successfully undertaking global projects was built upon this foundation.

Prior to his work at DOSECC, his early career included five years in mineral exploration and over twenty years as a Research Professor at the University of Utah and included extensive publications in the geological field.

Dr. Nielson’s licenses include Professional Geologist (State of Utah #5527667-2250) and Qualified Individual Licensed Diamond & Core Drilling Contractor (State of Nevada #007014). He is a Fellow in the Geological Society of America and a member of the American Geophysicial Union, the Geothermal Resources Council, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He is the author, or co-author, of over one hundred publications.
