Leedco Geotechnical Drilling Project

The Lake Erie Energy Development Corp., or LEEDCo,  partnered with DOSECC in 2015 to conduct preliminary analysis required to build wind turbines in Lake Erie.  The types of rock beneath the soil at the lake bottom required a geotechnical drilling assessment to determine the structure required of the proposed wind turbines to ensure a stable foundation.  Drilling was conducted about 10 miles off shore around the clock to drill 60-75 feet into the earth beneath the lake bottom to pull core cylinders for analysis.
